One week and counting until Taxes are due on 4/17/12! We want to be sure to help you save some money and get all of the deductions you deserve. We recommend that you visit the IRS.gov website for money saving tips. To help get you started we have complied a list of a few common deductions that are often overlooked.
- Sales tax (especially for big ticket purchases) cars, boats, hot tubs, saunas, etc.
- Home Buyer credits if they apply.
- Energy Saving Home Improvements.
- Deductions for Medicare premiums for the self employed.
You can also review the IRS 502 Publicationif you are planning to deduct your hot tub, sauna, or tanning bed as medical equipment expense. If these products are used to provide relief from a physical aliment or illness that your doctor has prescribed treatment you can claim them as a deduction.
People suffering from Fibromyalgia, back pain, arthritis, or other medical problems often get a great deal of relief from the use of a hot tub once or twice a day. Saunas are being used for detoxification and also to aid in both physical and massage therapy. Doctors are prescribing the use of tanning beds to patients suffering from Vitamin D deficiencies. Keep in mind that the use of these products must be prescribed by a licensed medical physician in order to qualify for a medical deduction on your taxes.
If you need a copy of your receipt for a hot tub, sauna, or tanning bed that you purchased from us last year, please give us a call at 800-743-1467. Of course you will want to consult your own tax preparation expert to make sure you qualify under IRS rules for any of the above deductions.

Have you ever heard of a snow sauna? Taking a sauna is great any time of the year. It seems that all the stress and tensions of the day are drawn out of the body by the radiant heat The dry heat reaches deep into your body and drains all the toxins out of it. And as your sweat increases, your body removes all the grime and toxins.
A good traditional sauna is usually situated near a lake or river. When the heat of the sauna is almost unbearable and the toxins are on the skins surface you open the sauna door and head for the lakes cold water. A quick dunk in the water rinses all the poisons from your skin. You are now clean, refreshed and many times drained of energy. Only a snow sauna will make you cleaner and more refreshed.
This is a perfect time to try this out with our snow on the ground! A snow sauna begins with a normal sauna. However that is where the similarity ends. Once a good sweat is going instead of heading for the lake to take dunk you simply jump or roll into the clean cold snow. Be careful that the area that you are snow jumping into is not covered with rocks, brush, sticks and other hazards.
After you’ve rolled and covered with snow take care to look upon the area you landed. You will be surprised to see dark deposits in the snow. These are the result of the grime and toxins that were in and on your body prior to the sauna. A true snow sauna enthusiast will make several rolls and flops before reentering the sauna for another sweat. A good snow sauna will make your body feel more alive and clean than it ever has.
Nothing beats a snow sauna for improving your health and well being!
